Three 18-year-old men were arrested on suspicion of attempted murder. A woman attempting to park her vehicle was injured by flying glass after she was allegedly shot at, though the 4-month-old baby in the back seat was not injured in the incident, police said.

Ruben Rizo, the alleged shooter, is woman’s daughter’s ex-boyfriend. The 37-year-old victim was injured shortly after 8 a.m. Tuesday morning outside her home in the 2600 block of Marine Avenue in Gardena, said Gardena police Lt. Robert Michaelsen.

Gardena Police booked Rizo on suspicion of attempted murder, along with two alleged accomplices, Andrew Joseph Acosta and Nicolas Alexander Boligan.

The men — all Gardena residents — are being held in lieu of $1 million each and are expected to make their initial court appearance in Torrance Thursday morning, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

Michaelsen said that woman was parking her car in front of her home after dropping her children off at school when she heard what sounded like a shot being fired.

When the victim looked to her left, she saw Rizo pointing a gun in her direction. Rizo then allegedly fired shot, striking the vehicle’s driver-side window, he said. The woman reported that Rizo had recently threatened her daughter.

Witnesses reported that Rizo ran east and get into a car occupied by two other men, Michaelsen said.

Gardena police detectives tracked down Rizo, Acosta and Boligan, arresting them Tuesday in the area of 154th Street and Cimarron Avenue. Police recovered the weapon used in the attack.

The woman was treated by Los Angeles County paramedics at the scene, then by hospital doctors for cuts caused by glass fragments embedded in her face, Michaelsen said, adding that her injuries are not considered life-threatening.

An exterior wall at the victim’s residence was damaged in the shooting.

The uninjured 4-month-old baby who was sitting in the back of the victim’s Chevrolet Suburban at the time of the shooting was her grandchild, the Daily Breeze reported.
